The Department of Education of Puerto Rico is the agency responsible for managing public schools in the country as well as developing their education systems. ​

The Department of Education wanted to implement technology in their testing systems for many reasons. One of them was to stay on par with the need and habits of the new generation. They also wanted to make the testing process a more dynamic experience for students, while also reducing the costs of logistics and printing. Finally, they wanted a system that would provide test results quickly, giving ample time for corrective measures to be carried out before the national test in May. ​

CHALLENGE

Every year in May, the Department of Education of Puerto Rico runs a national test called Meta PR. This test is carried out to measure how students are performing in the academic year. ​

Apart from Meta PR, the Department of Education decided to have an evaluation every February. This test serves as an assessment for teachers to take corrective action on areas that need improvement before taking on the national tests. ​

THE SOLUTION

To meet our clients’ specifications, our team built an online test-taking platform that would deliver results in real-time through Microsoft Azure. ​

 

This system is integrated with Office 365, a membership they already used in the department. Azure is also combined with cognitive services, SQL Azure database, App Services, Azure Storage, Traffic Manager, Power BI for reporting and analytics, Azure AD Premium, and Office 365.
