With Microsoft’s publication that SharePoint 2010 workflows will be retired, many organizations are transitioning to Power Automate as a better solution for their workflows offers by Microsoft 365. After careful consideration from Microsoft, they determined that for SharePoint 2010 workflows, Microsoft 365 clients would be better served by improved workflow solutions. Therefore, SharePoint 2010 workflows will be turned off for any new tenants starting August 1, 2020. Beginning November 1, 2020, Microsoft will also suspend the ability to run SharePoint 2010 workflows from existing tenants.

On the other hand, SharePoint 2013 workflows will continue supporting only existing tenants but will eventually be retired. If your organization still uses SharePoint 2010 workflows or SharePoint 2013 workflows, you should consider migrating to Power Automate or other supported solutions such as those from preferred members of Microsoft 365. You won’t lose any content during the transition, but you must know that all workflows migration is a manual process.

Prepare for the transition to Power Automate.

If your company uses the classic SharePoint 2010-2013 workflows, it’s time to move to Power Automate. Not only is Power Automate going to substitute SharePoint workflows, but it also integrates seamlessly with Microsoft 365 and Azure Services.  All Microsoft 365 licenses include the Power Platform usage to customize and extend Microsoft 365 applications, consisting of Power Automate and Power Apps. Power Automate also has extra premium features that you can buy on top of your Microsoft 365 licenses.

Some of the advantages of transitioning to Power Automate are that you can design flows that manage the permission of documents or processes across several services and applications, including SharePoint, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, OneDrive, among others. Compared to SharePoint Designer Workflow, Power Automate is much more extendable, allowing you to automate various applications and services thanks to hundreds of available connectors. With Microsoft Power Automate, you can stay better organized, save time, and work smarter by improving your organization’s overall performance.
