GOVERNMENT

Application to be mainly used in Tablet which allows the AAA to enter the updated information of the water meters of Puerto Rico. All this data is automatically updated in the databases while the users can view/generate.

The AAA is the entity of the Government of Puerto Rico which is responsible for providing quality water and sewerage service at the lowest possible cost.

CHALLENGE

The primary problem faced by the Autoridad de Acueductos y Alcantarillados de Puerto Rico (AAA) was not having updated the information of water meters, citizen information, consumption, among other valuable information. The AAA had the urgency of counting all these counters with the accurate information to be able to generate reports to the Government and have a more precise view of the water consumption in the country and the profits that this makes. After an audit, it was concluded that there were functional counters which did not exist in the database with which the AAA, counted, others had incorrect information thus preventing the correct billing of use.

THE SOLUTION

After documenting the requirements and needs of the AAA, INVID began to develop a custom solution developed as a web application, based on .NET technologies and connecting to a SQL Server database which would surpass all expectations. In addition to this, the application was developed C#.

By using a tablet with an internet connection, AAA employees can enter the information of water meters, physical address, citizen information and take a picture. All this information is stored directly in the general database of the AAA to keep it updated. Each section is segmented with customized profiles to be accessed only by authorized personnel.

THE RESULT

The AAA hired a brigade of people to carry out what they called “Mega Census”. This project consisted of personally visiting each water meter in Puerto Rico and including the correct and updated information in the system by using the application in the tablet.

A web application was also developed through which administrative tasks were performed such as distributing the routes and generate several report and export to Excel. This information would update the general database and maintain a correct record of water consumption, in addition to identifying defective meters.
